Hot Croft Bunnies

Charlie is my REW (red eyed white).  He is a lovely natured wee boy who loves nothing more than to be cuddled.  Charlie originated from Holland and was born in May 06.

Chance is one of my REWs (red eyed white).  He is a lovely natured wee boy.  Chance was bred here at Hotcroft Stud and is the son of Charlie.  Chance was born in January 08.

Malfoy is my Agouti and is a very laid back wee boy.  Malfoy is a superb typed wee buck with a lovely short body with good head and crown.  Malfoy was bred by Amanda at Willowdene Stud and will be a valuable asses to my breeding programme here at Hotcroft Stud..

I know that Tom is not a rabbit but I couldn't resist, he is just such a poser.............Tom is another member of our family and he spends a lot of his time in the garden with the rabbits.

Unfortunately in February 08 I lost my wee boy Blue to a freak accident.  Sadly he was in a two tier hutch and appears to have knocked his ladder down, fallen through the opening and was found at the bottom of his hutch dragging his back legs.  On rushing him to the vet my worst fears were confirmed - Blue had broken his back - and I had to give my permission for him to be put to sleep.  I have since spoken with other rabbit keepers / breeders and have discovered that there have been other injuries (one of which resulted in the rabbit being put to sleep) from the use of these hutches. 

I have therefore decided, and would highly recommend, never to use the two tier hutches for rabbits, and would urge other rabbit keepers / lovers to do the same.  I hope that in posting this sad story that even if it stops one rabbit from being injured, then I know that the sad passing of my wee boy Blue will not have been in vain.
