Hot Croft Bunnies

Incorporating Hotcroft Stud & Blues Stud, Breeders & Exhibitors of Mini Lop Rabbits

Welcome

Welcome to Hot Croft Bunnies, the home of Hotcroft Stud (run by Vel), Blues Stud (run by Paul) and the Junior Section (run by Matthew).  We are a family of rabbit lovers who breed and show Mini Lop rabbits.

It all started out in 2006 with Vel's very first mini lop Hollie.  Since then our family's love of this breed has grown immensely as too has the stock!

We are all BRC members which enables us to show our rabbits and we are also members of the Scottish Rabbit Club, the National Mini Lop Rabbit Club and the Northern Lop Club.

Colours

Hotcroft Stud will be concentrating on Red Eyed White (REW), Agouti, Smoke with other colours and butterfly pattern sometimes available.

Blues Stud will be concentrating solely on Blue Eyed White (BEW).

The Junior Section will be concentrating solely on Blacks.

The Mini-Lop Breed

Mini lop rabbits, as the name suggests have long floppy ears although this in no way affects or impairs their hearing, though BEW's as a breed are prone to hearing difficulties.  As the mini lop rabbit is the smallest breed of lop rabbit an adult should weigh in at approximately 3 1/2lbs.

The mini lop is a very laid back rabbit with an excellent temperament.  They thrive on attention and enjoy being picked up and cuddled.  They are a very lovable breed and are funny to watch when they play and are exploring their surroundings.  They are also very fast learners which makes them very easy to litter train and therefore are ideal as house rabbits.

Mini's have short hair which is very easy to maintain and therefore makes grooming an easy task for both rabbit and owner.

Thank You

We would like to thank Vari Dafters, Lyn Jones, Denise Laidlow and Jane Bramley (all well respected breeders) for providing us with good quality stock and giving us such a good start in both breeding and showing.  Without their help,  advice  and kindness, we would have taken a long time to reach the standard that we have.

A further thanks to Phil Batey for his patience, advice, expertise and criticism (well meaning - I think?  Cheers Phil ).

A special thanks goes to Cheryl from Rety Rabbits for her friendship, advice and assistance in establishing and running Hot Croft Bunnies.  We work in partnership with Rety Rabbits to enhance our breeding lines.
